Please review all information below before booking an appointment.

Important Information

For medical emergencies call 911 immediately

Your credit or debit card information will be collected and held by our scheduling system at the time of booking.

Your card will be charged automatically on the day of your treatment, as Dr. Goodnow is unable to process card payments at her office. You are welcome to bring cash or a check instead at the time of your treatment. Venmo is also accepted.

We have a 24 hour cancellation policy. Before this point you may cancel or change your treatment through our online booking system, or by calling and talking to our assistant at (931) 321-1117. Last minute text message cancellations are not acceptable. Please communicate.

Unless there is a legitimate emergency…

First time no-show = no fee, we all make mistakes..

Second time no-show = You will be asked to find a different practitioner unless the full treatment fee is paid.

An automatic text message reminder will be sent out 3 days in advance, reminding you of your treatment and giving you a day’s time to cancel or change your appointment if necessary. Often, but not always, there is a second reminder message sent out by Dr. Goodnow’s assistant the day before your treatment; however, it is your responsibility to keep track of your appointment day and time.

Goodnow Acupuncture will not directly bill medical insurance except through the Department of Veteran’s Affairs by direct referral.

However, acupuncture is primary healthcare in California and insurance companies are supposed to pay toward treatments. We are 100% happy to provide you with a “Super Bill” - chart notes that include  insurance codes as well as information needed for your insurance company to pay out directly to you. This is a common practice, and is generally more effective in getting patient reimbursement. Please text us to be sent a Super Bill.

Being prompt is important. Your money will not be refunded if you arrive too late for treatment to be issued. Being more that 20 minutes late is generally considered not showing up. Please communicate.

Please do not bring pets or children to the treatment with you unless they are being seen directly by Dr. Goodnow. There is no one to watch them and it is a liability issue. Generally speaking, you will be asked to leave and return on a day when the child is in someone else’s care. Money will not be refunded in these situations.

Momo, Dr. Goodnow’s dog, is always present in the treatment room. If you have an allergy to dogs please seek a practitioner without a canine companion. Thank you for understanding.

Recommended treatment frequency

This will be discussed at the first meeting with Dr. Goodnow: however, this is a general guideline for how frequently acupuncture or other treatments are recommended if you are wishing to self-schedule:

  • 2 Sessions+ weekly  = Acute Issue, Severe Intensity

  • Weekly =  Acute Issue, Moderate Intensity

  • Every other Week = Acute issue with mild intensity, or Chronic Issues with moderately high intensity, or Very Regular Maintenance

  • Monthly or Every other Month = Regular Maintenance or Chronic Issues

  • Seasonally or Every 3-6 Months = Maintenance for healthy happy people

*The goal is to see patients less often as they improve; while still providing preventative care.
